At 1426 hrs, units with the 3rd Battalion Fire Chief responded for the apartment fire at 2300 Good Hope Road with report of people trapped. Engine 15 and Battalion Fire Chief 3 arrived on scene to find a 12 story apartment building with heavy fire showing from the third floor on the east side of the building with people on balconies calling for help. Operations 3 requested a Working Fire Dispatch, Second Alarm and Water Supply Task Force. Truck 16 arrived and went to work throwing multiple ground ladders, raising the aerial, forcing entry and performing ventilation. Several residents were assisted from the building while others were sheltered in place. According to the fire investigators, the fire caused $80,000 worth of damage and displaced 12 residents.  Three residents were transported to area hospitals for smoke inhalation as well as two firefighters for observation. Five people, including two firefighters, were transported to area hospitals for observation.  The cause remains undetermined at this time.
