Early morning house fire #2 platoon |

On May 7, 2010, members of E-32, T-16 platoon #2 responde first due to a reported house fire at 3005 30th Street S.E. Upon arrival units were met with fire showing from the basement of a 1 story house. The crew of E-32 went to work laying a supply line, stretching a 1 1/2" preconnect to the first floor basement door to protect the first floor. Truck 16 crew was at work searching, ventilating and checking for extension while the roof team was busy throwing multiple ladders, controlling utlities, and cutting bars from basement windows as well as ventilating. The box was eventually held to one and one while the crews went to work on an extensive overhaul. |

On Sunday, April 25th 20010, # 3 responded to house fire at 2109 34th Street S.E. E-32 and T-16 were both first due and as they were turning the corner noticed neighbors pointing to a house across the street. The two units arrived to find smoke showing and a fire on the first floor kitchen area. As the engine went to work stretching a line and quickly extinguishing the fire the truck crew was busy throwing multiple ladders, searching the residence, pulling walls and ceilings and cutting utilities. The box was soon reduced to one and one for overhaul. |

This weekend the nation will pay tribute to the 103 firefighters that loss their lives in the service of their communities in 2008 and the 19 firefighters from not recognized in previous years at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend in Emmitsburg, Maryland. We would like to remember Millard F. Coxen, Truck 16, who died of a heart attack with on duty in quarters on December 19, 1954, which was certified line of duty by the Board of Police and Fire Surgeons. You can follow the activities in Emmitsburg at Firehouse, Statter911.com, Weekend.FireHero.org, FireEngineering.com. The Candlelight Vigil is on October 3, 2009: 6 pm to 7:30 pm EST and the Memorial Service is on October 4, 2009: 9:30 am EST. Please take a moment this weekend to remember those who have sacrificed all for their communities and the loved ones they left behind. |

On July 31st, 2009, E-32 and T-16 were dispatched first due for a house fire at 1628 40th Street S.E. Both units arrive to find a working fire on the 2nd floor. E-32 extinguished fire utilizing 600' of 3" and 200' of 1 1/2" hose. T-16 raised 1-16' and 2-30' ladders, assisted E-32 on 2nd floor , vented and overhauled, controlled utilities. |

On July 27th, 2009, T-16 platoon # 3 was dispatched first due for a fire at Anacostia High School. This time it wasn't just a locker. RS-3 arrive to find a classroom off on the 2nd floor. T-16 raised aerial, cut off utilities, vented and overhauled utilizing many misc. tools. |
