National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend PDF Print E-mail

This weekend the nation will pay tribute to the 103 firefighters that loss their lives in the service of their communities in 2008 and the 19 firefighters from not recognized in previous years at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend in Emmitsburg, Maryland. We would like to remember Millard F. Coxen, Truck 16, who died of a heart attack with on duty in quarters on December 19, 1954, which was certified line of duty by the Board of Police and Fire Surgeons.

You can follow the activities in Emmitsburg at Firehouse, Statter911.com, Weekend.FireHero.org, FireEngineering.com. The Candlelight Vigil is on October 3, 2009: 6 pm to 7:30 pm EST and the Memorial Service is on October 4, 2009: 9:30 am EST.

 Please take a moment this weekend to remember those who have sacrificed all for their communities and the loved ones they left behind.

On July 31st, 2009, E-32 and T-16 were dispatched first due for a house fire at 1628 40th Street S.E. Both units arrive to find a working fire on the 2nd floor. E-32 extinguished fire utilizing 600' of 3" and 200' of 1 1/2" hose. T-16 raised 1-16' and 2-30' ladders, assisted E-32 on 2nd floor , vented and overhauled, controlled utilities.

On July 27th, 2009, T-16 platoon # 3 was dispatched first due for a fire at Anacostia High School. This time it wasn't just a locker. RS-3 arrive to find a classroom off on the 2nd floor. T-16 raised aerial, cut off utilities, vented and overhauled utilizing many misc. tools.

On July 23rd, 2009, T-16 platoon # 3 was dispatched 2nd due on a house fire at 2205 Minnesota Avenue S.E. T-16 utilized saws to force entry ro rear gate and raised 24' and 30' ladders, cut utlities and used other misc. tools in assisting units extinguish a small fire in the basement.
 
Car and Garage fire PDF Print E-mail

On July 15th, 2009, E-32 and T-16 were dispatched first due for a car into a garage and both on fire. E-32 arrived to find just that and quickly put a knock down on both utilizing 200' 3", 400' 1 1/2". T-16 assisted E-32 with hooks and also raised 1-16', 1-24' and the aerial to check adjacent house's roof.  Car and garage were a total loss.
